Summer at 26 Selkirk Crescent

You can't really see much of the new (Beautiful) aggragate concrete driveway in this photo, but you can see the beautiful flowers that my mom planted for us, and although the yard is still recovering from the sewer line damage last fall, it looks pretty inviting out there!

Not much to report for me. I have been having pesky fevers that hover around the "threshold fever" and this creates stress and uncertainty and a lot of calls to my medical team, but so far, I have remained out of hospital and doing OK. I am still fairly weak, and my energy level is so low it is hard to describe. Even short phone calls tire me out, but I am managing those not too bad, so if anyone would like to talk for a short time, I think I can manage that (depending on the day). Visits are still mostly not an option, although a few family members visit, that is my limit at the moment.

Still very happy to hear from everyone either through email, this blog or by snail mail. I appreciate your continued good thoughts and prayers.

Hi Joanne,
I have been keeping an eye on your updates, so thank you for taking the precious time and energy to keep us updated. I am glad that you are holding your own and hope your treatments put you back to better health soon. It’s also great to hear about Gord and the kids or should I say young adults? All that good nutrition and motherly love has yielded great results and I see… has sprouted above Gord! I think of you often but don’t want to burden you either, I’ll drop you a line via Canada Post soon. Adele sends you best wishes. Keep your spirits high, we are all behind you !!!

Hi Joanne and all,
Thanks for your posting - many people are watching it to see how you are doing (without tiring you with phone calls, etc.). Hope the fever stage is nearly behind you and that you can relax and gear up for the next treatment. I imagine the worry aspect of the possible fever complications takes alot of emotional energy from all of you. Wish we could grow tomatoes in northwest Calgary! I have given up even trying here. I hope you can feel our love, support and prayers over the miles. Love, Nick and Lorraine

Hi Joanne:
We do appreciate hearing from you on the blog - it is such a great idea. Hope you are getting a little rest this week. We think and talk of you often, and wish only the best for you all. Your yard looks wonderful, but I have one question - your Mom planted the flowers - she does have a green thumb she's been hiding !! HA

Hi Joanne - Thanks for the blog. Thoughts and prayers are with you every day. I have to tell you how much I enjoyed "Cinnamon Gardens." You are right- it is a gem of a book. However, I could not get through "The Devil Wears Prada" so we watched the movie! Cute but now I know why I couldn't read 300 pages of it! Hope to talk to you soon. Laura

Hi Joanne,
Thanks for the latest news, good of you to keep us updated. We continue to enjoy great summer weather up here despite our recent big storm. Lots of flooding and wind related damage from it. We haven't experienced this much humidity in a long while. Hope your weather stays hot enough to continue to mature those tomatoes on the vine, they're much tastier that way! I continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers and I too hope the battle with the fever continues to lean in your favor.

Dear Jo,

Thinking of you. Your house looks beautiful.... and I can't believe that it's been nearly a year since I was there. I checked out your book blog and got some great ideas for my literary future. Thanks sweetie!

My bookgroup now has a blog:

Hope you find some inspiration there.

Love to you and yours...

House is lovely, your Mum did a great job.

It's so wet here I doubt our tomatoes will ever ripen.

Hi Joanne,
Your home-grown tomatoes look awesome, would like to grow some myself some year if we ever finish our house!
Hope you are managing to rest comfortably in the heat of Regina. Heard yesterday was supposed to be 47 deg. for you, with the humidity. You'll need to have ice caps instead of starbucks!! The Sheriff says hi to both you and Gord. You're in our thoughts.

Hi Joanne, thanks for the update. That is a beautiful home. I am at the lake, great place to be in a heat wave. Hoping you can keep that fever down. Michelle and her beau are a great looking couple. Praying for you and missing you every day (and with every visit to Starbucks). Love Claire

Hi Joanne,

I have just returned to your updates and just want to let you know how often you are on my mind.

You continue to be in my prayers and provide to me that ever important reminder of what is truly important.

We helplessly wish all of you didn't have to walk this difficult road and are so inspired and awed by how courageously you are travelling it. I hope you are ever reminded of how many other people are walking along behind you as well, carrying you in their thoughts, hearts and prayers.

Love,
your cousin Peggy
